Washington Professionals for the Study of Psychoanalysis (WPSP)

Our History

Washington Professionals for the Study of Psychoanalysis was organized in 1980 by a group of psychologists, most of them clinicians, who were interested in a forum for professional communication and exploration of the clinical and theoretical aspects of psychoanalysis from a variety of perspectives.  WPSP was one of the first groups to be admitted as a local Chapter of Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) of the American Psychological Association.
